Qualifications

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Create and design, from blueprints, sketches, templates, and written instructions.
  • Utilize various shop machinery, such as bending brakes, combination punching, shearing, and mitering machines.
  • Lay out, fabricate, weld, and assemble various metal structural parts of vessels.
  • Align and adjust parts using jacks, turnbuckles, shoring, dogs, clips, wedges, mauls, and hammers.
  • Line up parts for installation and weld in proper position.
  • Lay out and drill holes, make gaskets, install packing, liners, and similar items when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years naval or commercial ship fitting/welding experience
  • Skilled in removing, altering, repairing, and installing ship structures
  • Proficient in manufacturing templates, laying out and fabricating structures and fittings (bulkheads, equipment foundations, hangers, ladders, stanchions)
  • Experienced in fit-up and prep for welding, to include chipping, beveling, hand-grinding, and cleaning surfaces
  • Capable of performing post-weld clean-up of ship's structural repair areas and removal/reinstall of tank access covers in support of other work.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required
  • US Citizenship required
