You’ll be part of a team that embraces your drive, your curiosity, and your unique ideas and perspectives. Most importantly, you’ll share in our pride and purpose that affects the lives of millions around the world!

Working at our Vandalia Facilities

Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Dayton—known widely as the birthplace of aviation—where the Wright Brothers built the world’s first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 27 acres right off Interstate 75.

At GE Aerospace in Vandalia, we specialize in manufacturing and servicing world-class power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for a variety of military and commercial customers. Vandalia is also home to a product development lab where operators and engineers work together to invent the future of flight.

Role Overview:

The Lead Manufacturing Specialist (Material Plan & Execution) will coordinate and expedite the flow of material within the shop according to production schedules. The role has responsibility to plan and schedule material/production needs as well as release/execute material work orders. This position is located onsite in Vandalia, OH.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage work orders in accordance with the production schedule from release to completion, including shortage tracking, scrap replacements, and outside processes.
  2. Relay material shortages to the sourcing and planning functions and communicate shortage impacts to the operations/production team through fulfillment.
  3. Maintain a status of all work in process (WIP). Coordinate with the production supervisor/coach on upcoming work order releases to align with the production schedule and customer commitments.
  4. Attend regular operating rhythms and be prepared to discuss material status, delinquency/delivery, and schedule changes.
  5. Participate in and lead process improvement projects, value stream mapping events, and Kaizen events/projects.
  6. Work in cross-functional teams to support the production personnel, identify issues, implement corrective actions, and drive lean initiatives/improvements.
  7. A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. As a lead, you'll provide informal guidance to team members and be expected to take on the more challenging production control assignments.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in materials planning and/or production planning/scheduling)
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in materials planning and/or production planning/scheduling
  3. This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with ERP (Oracle R12 preferred) and understanding of business KPI's around cost, inventory, and cash flow.
  2. Ability to lead a team and influence others; strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  3. Ability to set priorities and execute schedule to achieve milestones/objectives.
  4. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  5. Focus drive to work through problems and implement a sustainable solution.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, for applicants who are not asylees, refugees, lawful permanent residents or U.S. Citizens (i.e., not a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), otherwise known as a U.S. Person), final offers will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
