Job summary

GE Aerospace is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Fabrication Manufacturing Readiness to drive readiness from concept through production. You will collaborate with design, supply chain, and quality to ensure manufacturability and cost targets are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering within a fabrication environment, preferably aerospace or highly regulated industries.
• Proven experience leading manufacturing readiness projects for new product introductions.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (NX, CATIA, Mastercam).
• Demonstrated ability to apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Excellent project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities with cross-functional influence.

Responsibilities

• Drive manufacturing readiness for complex fabrication processes from concept through production launch.
• Collaborate with design engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure DFM and DFA.
• Develop and implement manufacturing plans including process flow, equipment, tooling, and facility layouts.
• Lead technical reviews and provide expertise on fabrication capabilities and best practices.
• Conduct process capability studies and implement corrective actions for issues.
• Identify and implement advanced manufacturing technologies and automation to reduce costs.
• Develop and manage schedules and budgets for readiness activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and manufacturing personnel.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Travel to support manufacturing sites and suppliers.

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Fabrication Manufacturing Readiness supports the design, sourcing, and production of complex aerospace components and assemblies for Edison Works Advanced Programs. In this role, you will drive design for manufacturing readiness, producibility, reduce manufacturing cost and risk, and ensure our suppliers along with internal GE shops can deliver safely, on quality, on time, and at cost — with a specific focus on fabrication technologies.

• Drive manufacturing readiness for complex fabrication processes (e.g., machining, forming, welding, additive manufacturing) from concept through production launch.
• Collaborate with design engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
• Develop and implement robust manufacturing plans, including process flow, equipment selection, tooling requirements, and facility layouts.
• Lead technical reviews and provide expertise on fabrication process capabilities, limitations, and best practices.
• Conduct process capability studies, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
• Identify and implement advanced manufacturing technologies and automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Job Qualifications
