Job Description Summary

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer supports the design, sourcing, and production of complex aerospace components and assemblies for Edison Works Advanced Programs. In this role, you will drive design for producibility, reduce manufacturing cost and risk, and ensure our suppliers and internal shops can deliver safely, with quality, on time, and at cost.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead efforts with Design Engineering to implement “Design for Producibility” for new parts and assemblies.
  • Provide detailed should‑costs for components, assemblies, fabrications, and tooling.
  • Assist Edison Works Supply Chain in program reviews to ensure manufacturing considerations are addressed.
  • Proactively engage OV and internal shops to ensure program metrics of cost, quality, and delivery are met.
  • Create manufacturing schedules and evaluate supplier routers.
  • Use in-depth knowledge of best practices and industry capabilities to make decisions on process and supplier.
  • Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
  • Act as a resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience.
  • Lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
  • Explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus.
  • Develop persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within the field.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
Desired Characteristics
  • Significant aerospace manufacturing experience with conventional machining, nonconventional machining, fabrication, joining, and inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret part drawings.
  • Proficient in GD&T and inspection methods.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace Quality standards.
