Job summary

Actalent in San Diego, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III/IV to own complex hardware from planning through delivery in a high-mix, low-volume defense setting. You will act as a Manufacturing Project / Product / Work-Package Engineer, coordinating with engineering, quality, procurement, program management, and customers to ensure on-time delivery.

This onsite role offers broad visibility, growth toward senior project engineering or program management, and involvement in lean initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
• Experience owning a hardware scope from planning to delivery.
• Track hardware status against schedules and line-of-balance.
• Proficient in manufacturing methods for fabrication and assembly.
• Experience with MRB, NCR, and corrective actions.
• Cross-functional collaboration across manufacturing, design, quality, and procurement.
• Background in high-mix, low-volume or long-cycle programs.
• CAD proficiency to read models and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware scope from planning through final delivery and ensure packages meet requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing methods and processes.
• Track progress against production schedules and line-of-balance.
• Identify risks and implement recovery plans for on-time delivery.
• Lead root-cause and corrective actions for nonconformances.
• Collaborate with design engineering on manufacturability issues.
• Coordinate across manufacturing, quality, procurement, and customers.
• Perform supplier audits and on-site kickoff activities.
• Manage government-contracting documentation and change processes.
• Apply lean principles to improve efficiency and schedule performance.
