Job summary

Utz Quality Foods is seeking a Maintenance Lead at our Kindig Lane facility. This hands-on leadership role guides the maintenance team, prioritizes work orders, and drives preventive maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly and safely.

You will troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled equipment (bagger machines, motors, drives, fryers), maintain parts inventory, ensure GMP/OSHA compliance, and document activities in the EAM system.

Qualifications

• Requires 3-5 years as a Maintenance Mechanic or equivalent with hands-on troubleshooting and repairs of industrial production machinery.
• High School Diploma or Trade School education in Industrial Machinery Mechanics, HVAC, or related fields.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing PLC-controlled equipment and packaging machinery.
• Knowledge of Ishida packaging equipment, Heat and Control fryers, and conveyor systems preferred.
• Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor a team of maintenance technicians.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capacity to analyze data and implement solutions.
• Ability to communicate well with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to the Maintenance team, prioritizing work orders and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and keep equipment running smoothly.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled equipment including bagger machines, motors, drives, fryers, and packaging systems.
• Maintain an inventory of parts, tools, and supplies to support maintenance activities.
• Ensure maintenance work complies with GMP, OSHA, EPA, and Food Safety guidelines and supports safety culture.
• Document preventive maintenance, repairs, and work orders in the EAM system for audit compliance.
• Promote 5S initiatives to keep the work environment organized and safe.
• Identify opportunities to optimize maintenance processes and production efficiency.
