Job summary

The City of Roanoke is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician IV to lead a crew and perform skilled maintenance on heavy and light power-driven equipment. The role requires diagnosing, repairing, and servicing diesel or gasoline engine equipment, air compressors, pump apparatus and aerial truck hydraulics, with potential after-hours on-call shifts.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and 3–5 years of related experience or training in trades.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 3–5 years experience and/or training in trades area assigned or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals."

Responsibilities

• Supervises a crew in maintenance and construction operations within assigned department.
• Diagnoses, adjusts, repairs and services the full range of power-driven equipment including diesel or gasoline engine equipment, air compressors, pump apparatus and aerial truck hydraulic systems.
• Operates heavy and light equipment in snow removal.
• May be required to wear respiratory protection in the performance of duties.
