Job summary

ESFM is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform a range of electrical, mechanical and HVAC tasks within institutional facilities. The role includes field leadership, quality assurance, training, and managing escalations to ensure reliable building operations.

Candidates should have four years of vocational training, five years' experience in institutional maintenance, and two years as a licensed Journeyman.

Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.

Responsibilities

• Assists in decisions on normal and complex repairs; reports major problems to maintenance supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems and related facilities.
• Cleans, services, and diagnoses malfunction of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems and related equipment.
• Supervises and leads a group of workers on a project.
• Reads, comprehends and transmits complicated instructions verbally and in writing.
• Teaches advanced maintenance skills to other department members.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; creates punch lists.
• Reports on and repairs discrepancies as assigned.
• Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or with a team.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections.
• Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
• Serves as a member of facility emergency response team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
