Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree, technical degree, or relevant postsecondary coursework in facilities management, building maintenance, construction, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a related field preferred
• Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, mechanical systems, or a closely related field preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in at least two or more major maintenance disciplines, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or general building maintenance.
• Previous lead-worker experience preferred.
• Valid South Carolina driver's license required.
• Ability to operate district vehicles and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to pass applicable background and employment requirements established by the school district.
• Relevant trade certifications or licenses preferred.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems/work-order systems preferred.
• Experience coordinating contractors and vendors preferred.
• Experience with preventive-maintenance programs preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Directly supervise, coordinate, and evaluate assigned maintenance personnel in accordance with district policies and procedures.
• Assign daily work, establish priorities, monitor progress, and ensure completion of maintenance tasks.
• Provide leadership, guidance, training, and support to maintenance employees.
• Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, work quality, productivity, and adherence to district expectations.
• Communicate expectations clearly and address performance concerns in coordination with the Director of Maintenance.
• Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and excellent customer service among maintenance personnel.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new maintenance employees.
• Ensure employees have appropriate tools, equipment, materials, and safety supplies necessary to perform assigned duties.
• Coordinate staffing and coverage during emergencies, special events, school activities, and periods of high maintenance demand.

Performance Expectations:

• Maintain safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities.
• Provide timely and professional response to maintenance requests.
• Effectively supervise and support assigned maintenance personnel.
• Prioritize work based on safety, instructional needs, and operational impact.
• Communicate proactively with the Director of Maintenance and school/district administrators.
• Maintain accurate work-order, maintenance, and inventory records.
• Promote preventive maintenance and long-term facility sustainability.
• Demonstrate sound judgment in emergency and routine maintenance situations.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, accountability, dependability, and customer service.Support the mission and operational needs of the school district.
