Job Overview:
The Lead Maintenance Technician will be responsible for overseeing and conducting equipment setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance services to ensure continuous, efficient, and safe operations in a bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing company. This role requires expertise in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance and troubleshooting. Additionally, the role involves communicating, coaching, and teaching junior technicians, as well as providing daily updates to management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Equipment Installation, Repair & Maintenance: Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of production processing equipment used throughout manufacturing.
- Equipment Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic production equipment. Complete emergency and unscheduled repairs to maximize equipment uptime.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled work orders and preventive maintenance. Read and understand manuals and work orders to perform required services. Anticipate potential breakdowns and communicate needs to management.
- Predictive Maintenance: Collaborate with manufacturing and process development to create an effective predictive maintenance program that signals equipment failure risks.
- Documentation Administration: Document maintenance and repairs in conformance with cGMP requirements using logs and the CMMS.
- Safety and Environmental: Work safely using PPE, complying with safety policies, OSHA, EPA, and DEP regulations, including lockout/tagout and confined space procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of mechanical or building experience
- Technical training; exposure to high-speed equipment
- Mechanical aptitude with tools and machinery
- Good math skills for measurements
- Physical ability to push, pull, lift, bend, crawl, climb, and twist
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to learn cGMP and safety programs
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Experience with centrifuge maintenance preferred
- Effective mechanical knowledge of cGMP practices and chemical/materials manufacturing experience
- Critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Time management skills
