Job summary

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction seeks a Maintenance Repair Worker 3 at Franklin Medical Center in Columbus, OH. This full-time role leads maintenance tasks across electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and grounds, often supervising inmates or staff.

You will inspect and repair building systems, operate tools, and ensure safety during tasks while collaborating with facility teams and attending trainings.

Qualifications

• Formal maintenance skills training or 12 months of maintenance repair experience (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry).
• Valid commercial driver’s license may be required for certain motor equipment types.
• Job may substitute equivalent experience for minimum qualifications but not licensure.

Responsibilities

• Lead worker over inmates or staff in semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repair tasks (electrical, carpentry, grounds keeping, plumbing).
• Perform maintenance repair of equipment (lighting, outlets, switches, motors, appliances, heating/cooling components).
• Repair carpentry items (doors, locks, cabinets, desks, floors).
• Repair plumbing equipment (pipes, fixtures, pumps, valves, toilets, sinks).
• Perform interior custodial duties and exterior grounds keeping; respond to emergencies; conduct inspections and preventive maintenance.
