Job summary

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, OH. The role leads maintenance tasks, supervises inmates, and performs skilled repairs across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds keeping. Work includes routine inspections, preventive maintenance, tool control, and responding to emergencies.

A valid license may be required; probationary and training periods apply. Union representation: OCSEA.

Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic including addition and subtraction, and in reading, writing and speaking common English vocabulary.
12 months of training or 12 months of experience in maintenance repair (basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and use of tools/equipment).
Valid commercial driver's license if motor equipment is regulated by Ohio law. In certain contexts, Firefighter/intro to fire behavior course may be required.

Responsibilities

Lead worker over inmates or staff in semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repair tasks (electrical, carpentry, grounds keeping, plumbing).
Perform maintenance on equipment and systems including electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling components.
Conduct interior custodial duties and exterior grounds keeping; remove snow and ice as needed.
Inspect buildings and equipment regularly; perform preventive maintenance and tool counts/inventories.
Respond to emergencies; participate in meetings and trainings; assist other crafts as required.
