Job summary

WuXi AppTec in Middletown, DE, seeks a Lead Maintenance Mechanic to act as the technical expert for utilities and facility systems within a cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

You will execute preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshoot complex equipment, and manage regulatory documentation while mentoring junior staff. Collaboration with Production, QA and vendors will ensure continuous, compliant plant operations and readiness for audits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in a Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or highly regulated industrial environment.
• Technical proficiency with pumps, motors, valves, AHUs, Boilers, Chillers, 480V/3-phase distribution and Medium Voltage control logic.
• GMP knowledge and experience working in cleanroom environments with strict documentation protocols.
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Strong written and verbal communication to convey technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine & corrective maintenance on utilities & facilities equipment.
• Monitor and maintain water purification systems, clean steam generators and HVAC with Building Management and Environmental Monitoring Systems.
• Execute Preventative/Predictive Maintenance and assist with vibration analysis, thermography, data collection, oil sampling, etc.
• Serve as first responder for utility alarms and equipment failures.
• Provide on-site contractor oversight and document all work in CMMS to regulatory standards.
• Draft and review SOPs and As-Built Drawings; participate in change controls and vendor training.
• Identify opportunities for energy reduction and continuous improvement; support energy management and cost-control efforts.
