Job summary

Theuniversityunion in El Paso, TX is looking for a Lead Maintenance Technician to supervise a small crew and oversee preventative maintenance, repairs, and improvements of buildings, mechanical equipment, and utility systems.

You will troubleshoot machines, perform repairs, guide technicians, and manage projects from start to completion while keeping accurate maintenance logs and supporting safety and reliability in a demanding facility.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a lead role is required.
• Ability to mentor/train personnel.
• Five or more years of related experience in the field.
• Background in a recognized trade: mechanic, electrician, and/or machinist.
• Comfortable working in a high-energy, results-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew of Maintenance Technicians to perform preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Provide instruction, guidance, and coaching to crew.
• Minimize equipment downtime and complete projects with minimal guidance.
• Repair, maintain, and improve equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoot machines and replace defective parts.
• Manage projects from start to completion and provide feedback.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

Leads a designated crew of Maintenance Technicians to effectively and efficiently perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and continuous improvement projects on buildings, mechanical equipment, utility systems, and other physical infrastructure through completion.

Essential Functions

• Manages the work of Maintenance personnel in order to achieve the completion of assigned maintenance activities; provides instruction, guidance; and coaching to crew; and ensures Maintenance Techs embrace the company’s Guiding Principles.
• Completes projects with minimal guidance showing a proactive attitude to minimizing equipment down time.
• Executes a variety of maintenance activities involving the repair, maintenance, and improvement of equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoots machines in operation. Dismantles and examines to gain access to and remove defective parts. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces defective parts.
• Completes and reviews required paperwork such as records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, PM logs, etc.
• Able to manage a project from start to completion and provide feedback
• Other functions include, but are not limited to the following:

The Lead Maintenance Technician must have the capability to manage a team of two to five Maintenance Technicians

While performing the duties of this job, the Lead Maintenance Technician is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Lead Maintenance Technician to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The Lead Maintenance Technician is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. At times lifting and moving items over 50 pounds is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and typical hours dependent upon shift assignment.
