Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Maintenance Lead to supervise rendering process equipment maintenance at our Bastrop, TX facility. You will oversee the maintenance crew, troubleshoot machinery, and ensure facilities meet sanitary and safety standards.

The role requires hands-on welding and electrical/mechanical skills, strong communication, and the ability to train junior staff. You will work closely with the Plant Manager to keep production moving and compliant with OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in an industrial setting.
• Proficient in basic welding and fabrication skills.
• Demonstrated maintenance experience with industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs process machinery and hydraulic equipment.
• Provides direction and leadership for the maintenance crew and daily activities.
• Trains Level 1 and Level 2 Maintenance personnel.
• Ensures safety procedures and OSHA standards are followed.
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment and conducts safety inspections.
• Manages daily inventory of supplies and parts.
• Attends safety meetings and participates in Safety Committee.

Job Description

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for performing and supervising plant maintenance of rendering process equipment; ensures that equipment and buildings are sanitary and in good repair with a direct report to the Plant Manager.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs process machinery and hydraulic equipment.
• Changes electrical breakers and electrical starters; operates voltage, amp, and ohm meters.
• Follows preventative maintenance schedule on all plant equipment.
• Provides direction and leadership for the maintenance crew and daily activities and duties.
• Trains Level 1 and Level 2 Maintenance personnel.
• Responsible for ensuring all Company safety procedures and safe operating standards are followed by plant personnel, in accordance with OSHA.
• Responsible for cleanliness of equipment and regularly scheduled safety inspections.
• Manage daily inventory of supplies and parts, ensuring replacements are ordered in a timely fashion.
• Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in supervisory position / overseeing plant personnel in an industrial setting or in combination.
• Proficient in basic welding and fabrication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance with industrial equipment and/or combination of vocational training

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical, mechanical, and welding procedures.
• Prior rendering experience preferred.
• Advanced welding experience/skills preferred.
• Vocational school training preferred.
• Good communication skills both oral and written.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Team player; works well with others.
• Detail oriented; well organized.
• Good math skills.
