Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of Mainline or underground utility experience.
• 2+ years of leadership experience as Lead Pipelayer or Foreman preferred.
• Experience with trenching, pipe installation, grading, and backfill in Mainline environments preferred.
• OSHA 30 required (or must obtain after hire).
• Competent Person, Trench Safety, Confined Space preferred.
• First Aid/CPR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Mainline crews performing trenching, excavation, pipe installation, backfill, compaction, and grading.
• Review daily scope, production goals, sequencing, and safety expectations with the Superintendent.
• Interpret and communicate plans, profiles, cut sheets, and utility drawings to crew members.
• Coordinate equipment, manpower, and materials to meet daily production targets.
• Ensure trench safety compliance including shoring and Competent Person requirements.
• Oversee installation of underground utilities including water, sewer, storm drain, and related systems.
• Direct operators during trenching, backfill, compaction, and grading operations.
• Verify bedding, compaction, pipe alignment, and installation per project specs.
• Monitor jobsite conditions, hazards, and ensure safe work zones.
• Conduct daily tailgate meetings, enforce PPE, and maintain safety standards.
• Coordinate with inspectors, utility agencies, and customers during installations and inspections.
• Maintain daily reports, timesheets, material tracking, and production documentation.
• Identify issues and notify Superintendent for direction and resolution.
• Ensure cleanup, housekeeping, and preparation for next-day operations.
• Mentor pipelayers, operators, and laborers for skill development.
