Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer (Mainframe Automation) to contribute to automation initiatives within a robust mainframe environment. You will support multiple systems, resolve issues, and collaborate across infrastructure and operations in a highly redundant setup.

The role requires extensive mainframe knowledge, REXX, OPS/MVS, and hands-on experience with z/OS, CICS, IMS, and related subsystems. On-call responsibilities are included as part of a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of experience in a total IT environment.
• 7+ years of design, development and support of technology infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain OPS/MVS REXX rules, SSM tables, and programs.
• Resolve automation issues and provide tier-1 support.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and operations teams on automation needs.
• Provide support during z/OS upgrades and DR recovery/testing.
• Work with vendors for system support and problem resolution.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support as part of a team rotation.
• Learn new automation technologies such as Python, Groovy/Java, and Jenkins Pipelines.
