Moderna’s CMC Development Pilot Operations is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead LNP and formulation manufacturing for IND and ASU enabling activities at our Norwood, MA campus. You will build a phase-appropriate manufacturing model to enable rapid, high-quality material delivery while upholding quality, safety, and compliance.

Ideal candidates bring deep pre-clinical manufacturing experience, strong ALCOA knowledge, and a track record of leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical/Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
• Experience in pilot operations and commercialization of LNP and formulation.
• Strong understanding of ALCOA and tech transfer from PD to pilot and GMP manufacturing.
• Experience leading development teams across multiple functions.
• Mentorship experience and passion for people development.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead LNP and formulation manufacturing operations for IND and ASU enabling manufacturing.
• Provide leadership for the LNP/formulation group across PD to manufacturing execution.
• Build and operate an agile development manufacturing model for rapid material delivery.
• Ensure phase-appropriate manufacturing, balancing speed with compliance and rigor.
• Partner with CMC development Quality for deviation management and batch disposition readiness.
• Coordinate with analytical labs for testing readiness and timely release of material.
• Ensure readiness of people, processes, materials, equipment, and documentation.
