Job summary

DigitalFilm Tree seeks a hands-on Lead Compositor to guide live-action 2D/2.5D work, establishing looks and ensuring consistency across sequences. You will mentor a team, troubleshoot challenges, and participate in client reviews with leadership input.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in VFX compositing, 2+ years in a lead role, and expert Nuke skills, plus strong English communication and collaboration across departments. Hybrid onsite/remote work in California is supported.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional VFX compositing experience in film and television.
• 2+ years in Lead or Senior Lead Compositor role.
• Advanced to expert in Nuke with 2D/3D compositing workflows.
• Strong eye for color, composition, and continuity.
• Ability to mentor and communicate notes clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creative and technical direction of compositing across sequences.
• Establish and maintain workflows, looks, continuity, and quality standards.
• Perform advanced, hands-on compositing for live-action and CG shots.
• Review shots for quality and consistency; communicate feedback to the team.
• Participate in client reviews and relay actionable notes to artists.
• Collaborate with VFX Supervisors and production to meet deadlines.
• Mentor compositors and develop tools/workflows to improve efficiency.
