Job summary

The Salvation Army Kroc Center is seeking a Lead Lifeguard to supervise aquatic programs, swim lessons, and staff while ensuring safety and excellent customer service. Responsibilities include enforcing rules, overseeing lessons, training staff, and maintaining equipment in a busy public aquatics environment.

The role requires ARC Lifeguard certification, 2 years lifeguarding and teaching experience, and the ability to manage operations across shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

• 2 years of continuous experience in lifeguarding and swim lesson instruction in a group environment.
• Experience working with adults, youth, and children.
• 1 year of staff supervision experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce Kroc rules consistently and courteously to maintain a safe environment for members, visitors, and employees.
• Assist the Aquatics Manager with day-to-day operations of aquatics programs and facilities, including special events and swim lessons.
• Assist with the development, training, and instruction of swim lessons (both private and group) as needed; oversight of aquatic staff and instructors.
• Maintain constant observation of assigned areas, identify hazards, and respond to emergencies with CPR/AED/First Aid as needed.
• Assist with administrative duties including lesson registrations, incidents, volunteers, and events calendars.
• Assist with facility operations: updating bulletin boards, setting up/breaking down equipment, inspecting and cleaning pool areas.
• Ensure aquatic equipment is maintained and inventoried; report risks; perform water testing per SOP.
• Deliver excellent customer service to the community.
• Plan and deliver monthly in-service training and staff certifications; support recruitment and professional development.
