Job summary

Oliver Wyman Actuarial – M&A Consulting Actuary – US Life & Annuity seeks an experienced actuary for mergers, acquisitions, and pricing advisory work. Hybrid role with offices in NY, Boston, Chicago and other Oliver Wyman locations.

You will develop models, support due diligence, and present findings to senior leadership while collaborating with global actuarial and management consulting teams. Strong technical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in financial consulting or insurance (FSA preferred).
• Prior life insurance M&A and pricing experience required.
• Experience in actuarial pricing model development, profitability projections, and data flow management.
• Strong background in risk management, sensitivity analysis, and regulatory testing.
• Product development lifecycle and inforce policy management experience.
• Exposure to accounting regimes (NAIC, Bermuda EBS, US GAAP, IFRS, Solvency II).
• Proficiency in financial modeling, pricing, valuation with focus on profitability and stress analysis.
• Ability to deliver under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop financial models for mergers, acquisitions, internal and external reinsurance, and other capital markets transactions with minimal oversight.
• Manage actuarial due diligence, including review of appraisals, product features, experience studies/assumptions, and asset portfolio; breakdown datasets into narratives and recommendations.
• Develop executive level management reports and data visualizations.
• Present findings to senior management and C-suite executives.
• Build a network of contacts through deals, conferences, and events.
• Participate in client sales meetings and proposal development.
• Collaborate with management consulting and actuarial practices in the US and globally.
• Serve as a trusted resource for clients and junior staff on product- and technical-related actuarial questions.
