Job summary

Confluent Medical Technologies in Fremont, CA is seeking a Staff Laser Engineer to lead laser cutting and welding process development from concept to validated production. You will design experiments, program CAM tools, and optimize manufacturing workflows for small medical components.

Responsibilities include planning engineering activities, implementing laser processes, tuning motion systems, developing post processors, and supporting health and safety programs.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline and five or more years of related engineering experience; or an MS degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
• CAM programming and development
• SolidWorks/3D modeling and design
• Proficient in SPC methodologies
• Laser cutting and/or laser welding experience
• Experience in the medical device industry
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills

Responsibilities

• Develop laser cutting and welding processes from proof-of-concept to manufacturing validation.
• Plan and coordinate engineering activities, studies and programs for production and new product development.
• Implement laser processes for small medical components including programming and motion tuning.
• Develop CAM programs and optimize post processors and HMI interfaces.
• Support mechanical process development, equipment selection and tooling modifications.
• Propose/validate new I/O and automation controls for laser systems and ensure safety compliance.
