Job summary

Confluent Medical Technologies is seeking a Laser Engineer II to join our team in Fremont, CA. You will develop laser and mechanical processes from concept to manufacturing validation, plan engineering activities, and support new product development for medical devices.

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering or physics, at least two years in laser processing, and experience with CAM programming, SolidWorks, and documentation.

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical engineering/physics or related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience in process development and/or laser processing.
• Medical device manufacturing experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Process Engineering Manager, develop laser and mechanical processes from proof-of-concept prototypes to manufacturing validation.
• Plan and coordinate engineering activities for standard production and new product development.
• Handle process implementation for laser cutting, laser welding, and deburring small medical components.
• Develop laser cutting and welding processes, including motion programming, optical alignment, parameter development and optimization, troubleshooting.
• Generate documentation for process implementation including SOPs, work instructions, drawings, and manufacturing software.
• Support equipment guidelines and tooling modifications for process improvements.
• Generate models/drawings to support process development.
• Support cost-improvement projects for the laser processing group.
• Follow safety programs and maintain hazards management.

We are seeking a Laser Engineer II to join our dynamic team of industry leading experts.

As a qualified candidate, you will:

• Under the direction of the Process Engineering Manager, be responsible for laser and mechanical process development (from proof-of-concept prototypes to sustained manufacturing validation)
• Plan and coordinate engineering activities, studies, and programs in support of standard production and new product development.
• Handle process implementation for applications such as laser cutting, laser welding, and deburring small medical components.
• Be responsible for laser cutting and welding process development, including motion programming, optical alignment, parameter development and optimization, troubleshooting
• Generate documentation for process implementation including Operating procedures, work instructions, engineering drawings, manufacturing software, etc.
• Support and provide equipment guidelines and tooling modifications for process improvements.
• Generate models/drawings to support process development
• Support company-wide and internal cost-improvement projects, specifically for the laser processing group
• Follow health, safety and environmental programs for preventative maintenance – adhering to safety protocols and ensuring that all hazards are properly managed.

Education & Experience

• BS degree in mechanical engineering/physics or other relevant engineering discipline required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in process development and/or laser processing.
• Medical device manufacturing experience a plus.

• Are passionate working with integrated, complex technologies and machines
• Are experienced with CAM programming and development.
• Have laser processing experience.
• Have a strong background in SolidWorks.
• Possess strong communication skills – both written and oral.
