Job summary

Caltrans Landscape Maintenance Leadworker in Kern County supervises field crews, plans and schedules maintenance work, and coordinates emergency response tasks including encampment removals, illegal dumps, and freeway spills.

The position requires a Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) Category C and a Class B CDL with Tank Vehicle endorsement; overtime and travel may be mandatory, with potential nights, weekends and holidays. Good recordkeeping of labor and materials is expected.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC), Landscape Maintenance or Right-of-Way Pest Control Category, issued by Cal-EPA.
• Class B commercial driver’s license with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement required.
• Must have and retain a QAC and CDL to perform duties during emergencies and routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and perform maintenance work under supervision.
• Oversee field operations related to Emergency Response Incidents.
• Lead encampment removals, illegal dumpsites, freeway spill cleanups; keep labor/equipment/material records.
• May be required to work overtime, nights, holidays, and travel for emergencies.
