Job summary

MacKay is seeking an experienced land surveying leader to manage diverse projects in the Washington area. You will oversee field and office teams, ensuring technical quality and on-time delivery while maintaining strong client relationships.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in project management, proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble software, and a track record of mentoring staff. This role supports growth across our infrastructure and environmental services practice.

Qualifications

• Washington PLS license or ability to transfer within an acceptable timeframe.
• Up to 5 years of experience managing survey projects.
• Strong knowledge of surveying principles, practices, and equipment (GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey software (Trimble Business Center or similar).
• Proven ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor field crews and office staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage a variety of land surveying projects, including boundary, topographic, ALTA, final parcel maps, subdivision maps, legal descriptions, and construction staking surveys.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong and responsive communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee field and office survey teams, providing technical guidance, quality assurance, and mentorship.
• Review and certify survey documents, including plats, legal descriptions, and exhibits.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, and public agencies to support project goals.
• Ensure all survey activities meet applicable regulatory, professional, and quality standards.
• Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and responses to RFPs.
• Participate in business development activities and maintain positive client relationships.
• Stay current with industry standards, equipment, software, and regulatory requirements.
