Job summary

Sanbell seeks a California-licensed Professional Land Surveyor to lead its Ventura Land Survey Department. The Senior Land Surveyor Manager will own department strategy, mentor staff, manage budgets, and ensure quality and profitability across projects.

You will oversee client relations, proposals, schedules, and the adoption of new survey technology, while growing Sanbell’s surveying business in the region. In-person, full-time role in Ventura.

Qualifications

• Active Professional Land Surveyor license (PLS/LS) in California.
• 10+ years of experience with land development-oriented civil engineering firms.
• 2+ years of project management experience.
• Extensive experience with Civil 3D.
• Strong understanding of COGO-based software.
• Strong knowledge of land surveying practices, project execution, and quality standards.
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively under pressure.
• Self-motivated, collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

• Leading, hiring, training, and developing survey professionals.
• Setting department priorities, workloads, schedules, and project budgets.
• Ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of survey work.
• Managing project scope, profitability, deadlines, and client commitments.
• Building relationships with existing clients while developing new business.
• Introducing new survey technology, equipment, workflows, and standards.
• Serving as a senior technical resource for the department and broader organization.
• Lead the Survey Department and oversee project performance.
