Job summary

Cogent Analytics seeks an experienced Surveyor in the Indianapolis area to support boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking projects across central Indiana. This hands-on role collaborates with project managers, CAD staff, and field crews to deliver precise field data and high-quality survey products.

The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, 3+ years in field surveying, and proficiency with total stations and GPS/GNSS equipment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional field surveying experience.
• Proficiency with total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, and electronic data collectors.
• Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions, plats, and deed documents.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Indiana LS or LSIT licensure in progress or sought.
• Experience with Trimble or Leica equipment and related software.
• Construction staking experience on land development projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking surveys.
• Operate and maintain total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and data collectors.
• Process field data; prepare point files and surfaces for CAD production.
• Research plats, deeds, easements, and county records.
• Coordinate with CAD staff to ensure accurate translation of field data.
• Lead field crew operations, equipment logistics, and mobilization.
• Document field conditions and findings in notes and reports.
• Ensure compliance with Indiana survey law and professional standards.
• Track project progress and communicate schedule or scope issues.
