Job summary

MSALABS in Fairbanks, Alaska, seeks a full-time Assistant Lab Manager to lead daily laboratory operations, ensure testing quality, and support staff. Regular hours are Mon-Fri 8:00–4:30 with on-call duties; periodic travel may be required for training. The role reports to the Laboratory Manager and emphasizes safety, SOP adherence, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in a relevant science and at least 3 years of laboratory experience, with supervisory exposure, LIMS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science field and laboratory experience.
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 quality systems and method validation.
• Experience with SOPs, quality control, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily lab workflows and testing activities to ensure timeliness and quality.
• Support LIMS-managed client jobs and data integrity.
• Maintain SOPs and quality documentation.
• Promote safety, teamwork, and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical support for testing and method development.
• Assist with staff training and performance management.
• Identify process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
