M Health Fairview is looking for a Lead Laboratory Care Technician (LCT) at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center-West Bank . This is a full-time, 10-hour, Dayshift position, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm,3 out of 6 weekends.
The University of Minnesota Medical Center Acute Laboratories performs clinical hematology, chemistry, blood gas, coagulation, urinalysis, transfusion medicine, and blood collection and processing. The West Bank Acute Care Laboratory serves a variety of pediatric and adult patients. The Acute Care team consists of 100 employees, and the laboratory is staffed 24hours a day, 7 days a week.
Working with diverse populations within a healthcare environment, the Laboratory Care Technician plays an important role in providing quality, proficient and professional services in keeping with Fairview Values as they interact with our patients, families, and co-workers. The LCT performs laboratory specimen collection at various Fairview or outreach locations, as well as, provides for safe and secure specimen handling and point of care testing. Responsible for accurately entering orders and collection information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems; monitoring computer logs for incomplete work; scheduling tests/procedures and providing results in LIS/HIS and over the phone, the LCT's attention to detail and accuracy are the foundation for our providing quality laboratory services. Working as an individual or team member, the LCT continuously works towards providing quality service improvement and optimum support to the department and team members in achieving Fairview's goals. The lead assignment coordinates the daily workflow and solves issues which need resolution within a department, in a peer to peer relationship and as a liaison with leadership. The focus is to strengthen and enhance the work climate and workflow. The lead has a high level of technical expertise and displays role model competency in knowledge, communication and experience while acting as the primary peer resource.
