Job summary

Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA, seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Labor and Delivery team. You will lead nursing care for newborns, adolescents, and adults, ensuring safe, evidence-based care and active patient/family involvement in decision-making.

Responsibilities include assessment, planning, and evaluation of outcomes, collaboration with physicians and the care team, and adherence to standards in maternal-newborn care.

Qualifications

• ACLS within 30 days of start date.
• Fetal monitoring within 1 year of start date.
• NRP within 6 months of start date.
• RN license in Louisiana, or compact licensure.
• BLS within 30 days of start date.
• Registered Nurse Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Nursing Care team with accountability for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient-focused care.
• Assess and document patient needs across physical, psychosocial, educational, and cultural domains, communicating with the care team.
• Initiate, modify, and communicate care plans and interventions.
• Provide age-appropriate care for neonate, adolescent, and childbearing adult.
• Educate patients and families to promote healthy behaviors and informed decisions.
• Assess patient responses to interventions and progress, documenting in the clinical record.
• Coordinate patient care through collaboration with the healthcare team and physicians.
• Perform and assist with procedures in Labor & Delivery, immediate postpartum, and OR as needed.
• Demonstrate safe use of equipment and adherence to infection control standards.
• Identify abuse signs and follow reporting mechanisms.
• Monitor and report adverse drug reactions as required.
