Job summary

City Union Mission is seeking a kitchen supervisor to lead meal preparation and volunteer teams across morning and afternoon shifts. You will ensure Food Service quality, maintain inventories, and coordinate with the Food Service Administrator to deliver nutritious meals for shelter guests, staff, and volunteers.

The role requires supervisory ability, a Food Safety certification within 90 days, and a commitment to hygienic kitchen operations and Christian ministry within the mission's ethos.

Qualifications

• Must supervise clients or volunteers and train them for employment.
• Must obtain a Manager's level Food Safety certification within 90 days.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Able to work cooperatively with staff and shelter staff.
• Highest standards of hygiene and knowledge of Health Department standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Health Department cleanliness standards in kitchens at all times.
• Follow weekly kitchen menus and obtain approval before changes.
• Manage stock and inventory for weekly meal prep.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals to guests, staff, and volunteers.
• Oversee daily meal counts and inventory records.
• Host volunteers and orient new volunteers to service.
• Oversee kitchen operations and assist in absence of Administrator.
• Model Christian faith and Gospel opportunities when appropriate.
