Job summary

Pierce County Juvenile Court seeks a Probation Manager for Dependency to guide staff in using child- and family-based approaches. The role balances legal requirements with compassionate, evidence-based decision-making and close collaboration with judicial officers.

Responsibilities include leading multiple teams, ensuring adherence to departmental standards, and partnering with Detention, Probation, Operations, and Clerk’s Office to support integrated practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in corrections, social work, management or closely related field.
• At least 5 years in child welfare or juvenile justice and 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Willingness to complete required management training before year one of service.

Responsibilities

• Plans, administers, and coordinates the activities of department units; updates procedures to meet changing conditions.
• Evaluates program accomplishments against standards and recommends actions.
• Leads multiple teams (Probation Counselors, Case Monitors, Guardian ad Litems, etc.) for cohesive service delivery.
• Develops and maintains community partnerships and communicates program objectives to stakeholders.
• Travel to assigned work locations as needed.
