Job summary

Colorado Springs Utilities seeks a Journey Line Specialist at Fort Carson to lead line crews and ensure safe, reliable operation of electric distribution and streetlights. The role supports construction, maintenance, and installation of overhead and underground lines, coordinating outages and maintaining compliance with safety standards.

The position emphasizes leadership, training, and adherence to Fort Carson and IGSA guidelines, with relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a journey line technician.
• Completion of a Line Technician Apprenticeship program.
• Valid, unrestricted driver's license and Class A CDL required.
• Knowledge of electrical system principles, voltage, equipment, installation, and maintenance.
• Ability to interpret specifications, schematics, and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the crew in the Foreman’s absence and assist in job planning.
• Provide second review for safe work practices.
• Train Line Tech Apprentices or less experienced technicians.
• Set up outages, hotline holds, clearances, and required work.
• Ensure material readiness and crew equipment for job execution.
• Oversee construction and maintenance of overhead/underground lines.
