Job summary

Garland is seeking a Journeyman Powerline Technician to build and maintain overhead and underground distribution, transmission, substation and lighting systems. You will install, remove and service line equipment across GP&L service areas.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 4 years of line work or Lineman College certification, and Texas CDL eligibility. The role offers a fixed daytime schedule with on-call rotations and travel to remote sites as needed.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of power line construction methods and practices.
• Knowledge of electric transmission and distribution system operations.
• Transformer theory, loading and connectivity.
• Proficient with office equipment and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to identify system operating problems and work with crews.

Responsibilities

• Repair and replace distribution power lines between generating stations, substations and customers.
• Build and maintain transmission, distribution, and substation facilities.
• Identify, diagnose and repair system disturbances and abnormalities.
• Prepare service requests to locate malfunctions.
• Attend on-site and off-site safety training; standby after hours.
