Job description

Cognizant’s Digital Engineering practice is seeking a highly qualified Lead Java Engineer with experience in React JS to develop and build high-performing, scalable enterprise applications. You will be part of a digital software team working on high-demand applications, emphasizing high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code. Collaboration with product managers, designers, and clients is essential to deliver valuable software quickly. Our engineers adopt agile methodologies, openly identifying areas for improvement and celebrating successes to enhance team and customer satisfaction.

Location: Plano, Texas

You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Cognizant will not sponsor H-1B or other work visas for this role.

Responsibilities

1. Participate in Scrum calls.
2. Analyze existing customer applications.
3. Prepare high-level technical documentation detailing functionalities and interface specifications.
4. Write clean, testable code using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and AWS.
5. Identify and fix technical issues in existing code, including upgrades and refactoring.
6. Analyze performance issues in stored procedures and implement solutions.
7. Perform proof-of-concept (POC) validations, design services, components, and architecture considerations.

Qualifications

• Experience developing and maintaining high-quality software solutions using AWS, React JS, SQL, Spring Boot, Java, JavaScript, and MySQL.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features.
• Ensure application performance, quality, and responsiveness.
• Identify bottlenecks, fix bugs, and maintain code quality and automation.
• Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and mentor junior developers.
• Work closely with product managers and designers to translate requirements into technical specifications.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct thorough testing and documentation of software components.
• Deep understanding of Loan Booking and Document Management domains is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills, independence, and excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Availability for hybrid work with day shifts.
