Job Description

GfK is seeking a lead Java engineer with hands-on Java/J2EE development experience and proven abilities to support software activities in an Agile software development lifecycle. We are seeking a well-rounded developer to lead a cloud application using a variety of technologies. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills. In addition, the candidate will lead developers on the team to achieve architecture and design objectives as agreed with stakeholders.

As Lead Java Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

1. Leading developers to meet product deliverables.
2. Coaching junior developers to develop scalable implementations.
3. Contributing to detailed design and architectural discussions, as well as customer requirements sessions, to support J2EE application implementation.
4. Promoting designs that develop clear and maintainable code.
5. Identifying and solving code/design optimization issues.
6. Learning and integrating with various systems, APIs, and platforms.
7. Interacting with a multidisciplinary team to clarify, analyze, and assess requirements.
8. Participating actively in the design, development, and testing of web applications.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role as a Full Stack Tech Lead, you should have:

• Hands-on 3-5+ years of experience developing Java web applications, especially large-scale API design & development.
• Proven 5+ years of technical leadership on prior projects.
• Experience guiding a team of at least 10 developers without direct managerial responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Tool Suite, including Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Batch.
• Experience building UI applications using React.
• Experience with automated build tools like Maven or Gradle.
• Understanding of relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres (preferred but not mandatory).
• Fluency in Java/J2EE, JSP, Web Services, with Java 8 or higher.
• Experience using project tracking tools like Jira.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work well in a team.
• Experience with SAML, SSO, data visualization tools like Power BI, and DevOps CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, BitBucket).
• Knowledge of Python, Liquibase, and OpenShift is a plus.

Additional Information

This role offers a market-competitive salary ranging from $64,000 to $170,000, depending on experience, qualifications, skills, and location. It may also include sales-based incentives or bonuses.
