Job summary

JPMorganChase, within Commercial & Investment Bank's Equity Derivatives Technology Team, seeks a Lead Software Engineer to join an agile team that builds trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, scalable way.

You will be a core technical contributor responsible for development and delivery across multiple areas, including Java, distributed systems, and AI-enabled solutions, while driving architecture discussions and mentoring peers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java development.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems (scalability, resiliency, low-latency design, observability).
• Familiarity or practical exposure to AI/ML-enabled solutions (e.g., applying AI to workflow automation, decision support, or operational efficiency).
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work through ambiguity and diagnose issues end-to-end.
• Clear, proactive communication and strong collaboration across engineering and business partners.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
