Job summary

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Officer to lead security efforts, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and DoD standards. The role focuses on RMF, NIST 800-53, ATO readiness, and continuous monitoring.

The ISSO will collaborate with program teams, defense partners, and leadership to strengthen SDL’s cybersecurity posture, manage incident response, and produce actionable security documentation and reports.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in information systems security or related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, CS, or information assurance.
• Ability to obtain DoD-related clearance within 6 months.
• Knowledge of NIST 800-53 RMF, FISMA, and DoD controls.
• Experience with SSP, POA&M, and ATO readiness.
• Incident Response & Data Spillage Cleanup experience.
• Ability to produce professional reports for system owners.
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain/maintain DoD clearance.
• Active DoD security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Ensures information systems comply with NIST 800-53, RMF, and other security frameworks.
• Conducts risk assessments, vulnerability management, and mitigation planning.
• Performs audit log reduction and SIEM tuning and configuration.
• Maintains ATO requirements for classified systems.
• Oversees security operations, threat analysis, and intrusion detection.
• Develops and executes incident response plans to protect data.
• Implements continuous monitoring strategies to identify threats.
• Develops security policies, procedures, and guidelines in DoD alignment.
• Manages security training programs to promote best practices.
• Leads security assessments and interfaces with Government agencies.
