Job summary

Zachry Group in Alvin, TX is hiring a Boilermaker Helper for an industrial new construction project. You will read blueprints, assist in fabricating and assembling iron/steel structures, and work with the mechanical department.

Responsibilities include reading specs, rigging, welding, bolting, and ensuring safe operations at heights. Must have 4+ years of boilermaker experience and own tools. This position requires physical stamina and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' experience as a Boilermaker Helper or comparable position.
• Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must be able to work at heights in excess of 300 ft.
• Must have all required tools.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope, locations, quantities and material sizes.
• Identify all tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and precautions to eliminate those risks.
• Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Hoist equipment via bull rigging or crane.
• Verify alignment of structural-steel members using plumb bobs, laser, transits or levels.
• Connect columns, beams and girders with bolts per drawings.
• Bolt aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting/bolting.
• Cut, bend and weld iron/steel pieces using torches and welding equipment.
