Job summary

Washington County Attorney's Office in Utah is seeking a Lieutenant Investigator to lead complex criminal and civil investigations, interview witnesses, and prepare cases for prosecution. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six years of full-time peace officer experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Utah POST LEO Category 2 certification.
• Valid Utah driver's license.
• Ability to successfully pass a Washington County Attorney's Office background investigation.
• Willingness to be available for 24-hour on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex investigations: conduct criminal and civil investigations, gather evidence, interview witnesses and suspects, and prepare cases for prosecution.
• Collaborate with legal professionals: work with County Attorneys to evaluate evidence, develop investigative strategies, and provide courtroom testimony.
• Support critical incident investigations: participate in the Critical Incident Task Force (CITF) and Child Abduction Response Team (CART).
• Conduct specialized interviews: perform child and adult forensic interviews and participate in multidisciplinary case reviews.
• Work across agencies: coordinate with local law enforcement and other agencies on sensitive, high-profile cases.
• Respond when it matters most: assist with urgent situations, arrests, and other critical law enforcement responsibilities.
