Job summary

County of Clear Creek is seeking a Detective Investigator to lead complex investigations, coordinate with local agencies, and prepare cases for prosecution. You will oversee evidence handling, photography, and testimonies in court.

This full-time role requires POST certification and the ability to train deputies, supervise at crime scenes, and engage the community while maintaining the highest professional standards. Occasional long hours and rotating shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of constitutional and case law related to law enforcement.
  • Knowledge of State Law and County Ordinances.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the more complex criminal investigations in the County.
  • Respond to crimes of arson, theft/burglary, assault, narcotics, suicide, and homicide.
  • Direct the investigations at the crime scene by acting as evidence custodian and photographer.
  • Interview and interrogate persons to prepare investigation reports for prosecution.
  • Prepare the case for trial with the District Attorney’s office and testify in court.
  • Instruct Deputies in crime scene processing and evidence collection.
  • Oversee the evidence section as needed.
  • Disseminate information on crime trends to divisions and agencies.
  • Attend post-mortem examinations to obtain fingerprints.
