Job summary

Kratos Defense is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III - Intermodal Container to advance our intermodal container designs within the Innovative Solutions Group. You will take designs from concept through production, delivering BOMs and CAD drawings for manufacturing teams.

The role requires strong knowledge of container standards (ISO 830), CSC, and ABS rules, with hands-on experience in welding, materials, and DFMA.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Proven CAD experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
• Experience designing intermodal freight containers and related structures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and develop ISO shipping containers, specialized cargo containers, and intermodal transport systems.
• Create detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, and engineering documentation using CAD software.
• Perform structural analyses, load calculations, fatigue assessments, and FEA to validate designs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Project Management teams.
