Job summary

Nomad Global Communications Solutions in Huntsville, AL seeks a Mechanical Engineer III to advance intermodal container designs from concept to production documentation.

You will create 3D models and fabrication drawings, perform structural analyses including FEA, and ensure compliance with ISO 830 and CSC/ABS-like standards while supporting manufacturability and cost objectives. Travel as needed.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• CAD experience; SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience designing or modifying intermodal freight containers or similar transportable structures.
• Knowledge of ISO 830 freight-container terminology and standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support mechanical systems for Nomad platforms.
• Create detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Perform structural analyses, load calculations, fatigue assessments, and FEA to validate designs under transportation, lifting, stacking, and environmental loads.
• Collaborate across teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure manufacturability and cost objectives.
• Lead mechanical design for complete systems and mentor junior engineers.
