Job summary

SmithGroup in San Francisco seeks a Senior Interior Designer to lead design across all project stages, collaborating with clients, contractors, and internal teams. You will oversee programming, space planning, and documentation, mentor junior staff, and contribute to recruitment while delivering scalable design solutions for mixed-use, hospitality, and senior living projects.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years, architectural/interior design registration, and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent.
  • Experience in Mixed-Use, Hospitality and/or Senior Living.
  • Ability to set design direction for junior staff.
  • Flexible aesthetic to meet diverse client needs.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience.
  • Registration required (Architectural or Interior Design).
  • LEED AP preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Technical competence from schematic design to construction documents.
  • Ability to contribute to an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts for all project stages with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Manage projects via scope, schedules, quality, and fee control.
  • Lead programming, conceptualization, and development of design solutions.
  • Consult with manufacturers, research materials.
  • Document architectural drawings.
  • Support construction administration and site visits.
  • Oversee design work and ensure consistency and standards.
