Job summary

County of Los Angeles Probation Department is seeking a Senior Cook to lead daily food service operations in a fast-paced institutional setting. You will supervise and train kitchen staff and oversee high-volume meal preparation to ensure safety and quality.

Requirements include an ACFEFAC-accredited Culinary Arts certificate or equivalent experience, plus at least two years in quantity food prep in institutional settings, and a CA Driver's License.

Qualifications

• ACFEFAC-accredited Culinary Arts certificate + 2 years quantity food preparation experience.
• 2 years journey-level quantity food preparation experience in institutional, commercial, military, or similar settings.
• Valid CA Class C Driver License is required.
• Physical Class 3 (moderate physical duties) and ability to lift up to standard requirements.
• Experience using Outlook, Excel, and similar software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and oversee quantity food production.
• Train and supervise food service workers and/or inmate workers.
• Ensure safety, sanitation, and compliance.
• Inspect, store, and rotate food supplies.
• Modify recipes and track supplies using software.
• Support baking or butcher shop operations as needed.
