Job summary

UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services (H&HS) is seeking a Cook to support multiple work stations, preparing raw food items, and assisting with menu production. You will lead a team, monitor tasks, and ensure timely, quality meals for student-residents, faculty, staff, and guests.

Qualifications

• Three to four years of experience in food preparation in a kitchen or dining area (Preferred).
• Ability to read, understand, and speak English to perform duties (Required).
• Time management to meet meal service timelines (Required).
• Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation guidelines (Required).
• Ability to lead one or more workers in a high-volume dining environment (Required).
• Ability to measure ingredients and follow standardized recipes (Required).
• Familiarity with production equipment and basic culinary terminology (Required).
• Ability to maintain production records and temperature logs (Required).

Responsibilities

• Prepare raw food items for cooking and pan meats/vegetables as directed.
• Provide team leadership to assistants and line staff; assign and monitor production tasks.
• Ensure production goals are met and adhere to timelines and quality standards.
• Operate and sanitize kitchen equipment according to safety guidelines.
• Interact with guests and coworkers in a high-volume dining setting.
