Job summary

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Lead Cook to prepare meals for large groups of inmates at the Martinez Detention Facility in Martinez, California. You will lead kitchen operations, plan menus, supervise staff and inmates, and ensure sanitation and safety standards are met.

Applicants must have 3+ years of institutional food service experience, a valid California driver’s license, and be prepared for background checks and polygraph testing.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time food service experience cooking for 100+ people.
• Valid California Motor Vehicle Operators License.
• Background check, polygraph and fingerprinting required.
• Certificate in Food Production may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct meal planning and cooking for large groups in a detention facility.
• Provide work direction to food service staff and detained inmates.
• Estimate and requisition groceries, inspect deliveries, and manage kitchen compliance.
• Deliver meals using county vehicle when assigned; supervise kitchen sanitation.
