Job summary

Commerce, the open, AI-driven commerce ecosystem powering BigCommerce, Feedonomics and Makeswift, seeks an experienced Lead Software Engineer- Infrastructure. You will help design and operate the foundational tech stack powering Commerce stores, collaborating with distributed teams to deliver scalable, reliable services in a DevOps-oriented culture.

Based in the Austin, TX or Atlanta, GA metro area, this hybrid role combines hands-on coding in Golang, Ruby and Scala with cloud provisioning

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience with Linux system administration and scripting (Ruby, Bash).
• Proficient with Puppet or similar configuration management tools.
• Strong understanding of modern programming and design principles.
• Experience leading a project initiative and mentoring others.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the development environment and containerized services.
• Manage cloud hosted VMs in Google Cloud Platform.
• Automate repetitive manual processes and document architecture.
• Educate engineers on tools and processes and contribute to roadmap.
• Join on-call rotation and collaborate with distributed teams.
