The Lead Engineer, I&O serves as a senior technical resource, responsible for guiding diverse teams through the complexities of domains such as networking, database, cloud solutions, and other technical areas. This role involves applying visionary technical leadership to ensure seamless integration of technical tasks with departmental and organizational objectives. The Lead Engineer, I&O also mentors other engineers to improve efficiency, eliminate waste, and enhance the resilience of Healthfirst's infrastructure platforms, working closely with application development teams to support continuous delivery of new capabilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with management to shape and implement technology strategies across infrastructure and database domains.
- Evaluate and provide guidance during the design, development, and implementation of database solutions.
- Identify improvement areas and proactively champion solutions.
- Ensure database practices align with company vision by fostering interdepartmental relationships.
- Mentor and develop team skills, emphasizing current technologies and best practices.
- Design scalable, robust, and efficient solutions to meet business demands.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and promote industry best practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical degree or equivalent work experience with a high school diploma or GED.
- Senior enterprise experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redshift, MySQL, DynamoDB, etc.
- Experience with AWS Cloud, Unix/Linux, Windows.
- Maintain database documentation, data standards, procedures, and data dictionary definitions.
- Support and integrate database services on-premises and in the cloud.
- Implement cloud security best practices, including a least privileged access model in AWS.
- Experience with system health monitoring and performance optimization using tools like CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Splunk, etc.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery exercises as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expert-level experience with enterprise databases like Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.
- Experience supporting Oracle VLDB databases with DataGuard and GoldenGate.
- Strong AWS Cloud, Unix/Linux, Windows experience.
- Knowledge of Rubrik backup and recovery solutions.
- Experience in a Cloud Center of Excellence and driving cloud innovation.
- Implementing cloud services via Infrastructure as Code tools like CloudFormation, Ansible, Terraform.
- Deep troubleshooting skills involving logs, network traces, and automation tools.
- Experience collaborating with development teams on cloud-native applications.
- Experience in regulated/high-security environments (PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST).
Hiring Range
- Greater NYC Area (NY, NJ, CT): $114,000 - $164,730
- Other locations within approved areas: $97,800 - $145,520
Compensation depends on experience, education, certifications, and other factors. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, incentive programs, life insurance, and 401k.
