Job summary

The University of Rochester seeks a skilled Nutrition and Formula Center Technician to prepare human milk and infant/pediatric formulas and manage daily lab operations at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. This full-time role requires strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards and collaboration with RDNs and nursing staff.

You will lead a team, handle formula orders, maintain temperature logs, and ensure accurate documentation while supporting department goals and patient care

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with healthcare experience required.
• Certified diet tech –DTR or Certified Pharmacy Tech required.
• Associate’s degree or completed 2 years of college required.
• 1 year of college experience and currently enrolled in a health science-related BS or higher degree program required.
• Demonstrated computer experience required.
• 6 months of customer service experience in the healthcare industry with patient interaction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver human milk/formula orders per recipes or RDN instructions.
• Lead and support Human Milk & Formula Lab technicians and assist with department operations.
• Ensure sanitation, safety, and regulatory compliance in the preparation area.
• Maintain temperature logs and quality assurance monitoring of formulas.
• Operate delivery systems and document transfers of human milk/formula.
• Triage calls and refer clinical decisions to a Registered Dietitian when needed.
• Train new employees and monitor team performance.
